What "Stripless Pink Bright B-Wax" actually means
Traditional Brazilian wax is "strip wax" — a thin layer of soft wax is applied warm, then a cloth or paper strip is pressed on top and ripped off, taking hair and the top layer of skin with it. In the bikini area, that lifting action is the source of most of the pain, the redness, and the post-wax pigmentation that many women see.
Pink Bright is a hard wax — it's applied warm, allowed to set on the hair for 30–60 seconds, and then lifted off in one piece without any cloth strip. The wax shrinks around the hair only, not the skin. It dramatically reduces the lifting force on the dermis — which is why most clients describe it as 50–70% less painful than strip wax.

Pre-wax checklist
- Hair length: 6mm (¼ inch) — about a rice-grain. Too short and wax can't grip; too long and the pull is sharper.
- Avoid shaving for at least 3 weeks before your first Brazilian.
- Gently exfoliate the bikini area 24–48 hours before — not the day of.
- Avoid retinol, AHA/BHA serums, and chemical peels for 5 days prior.
- No sunbathing or tanning beds for 48 hours before.
- Avoid caffeine and alcohol on the day — both increase skin sensitivity.
- Take a paracetamol 30 minutes before if you're nervous about pain.
- Schedule mid-cycle if possible — skin is least sensitive 5–10 days after your period.
- Wear loose cotton underwear and bottoms to the appointment.
After Your Appointment
24-hour aftercare
- No hot showers, steam, sauna or hot baths for 24 hours — heat opens follicles.
- No gym, yoga or sweating workouts for 24–48 hours.
- Wear loose breathable cotton underwear for 48 hours — no synthetics, no thongs.
- No swimming (pool, beach or sea) for 48 hours.
- Avoid sex and tight clothing for 24 hours to prevent folliculitis.
- Apply the post-wax serum we provide morning and night for 3 days.
- Start gentle exfoliation from day 3 — twice a week — to prevent ingrown hairs.
- Avoid scented soaps, deodorants and perfumes on the area for 48 hours.
- Skip retinol and exfoliating acids on the area for 5 days.

Is a Brazilian wax very painful?
A Brazilian wax has a reputation for pain because most salons still use traditional strip wax that lifts the top layer of skin with every pull. At YLG, we use Stripless Pink Bright Brazilian Wax — a hard wax that wraps around the hair only, not the skin, and lifts off in one piece with no cloth strip. Most clients rate the pain at 4–5 out of 10 for the first session, dropping to 2–3 by the third visit as the hair gets finer.
What's the difference between bikini wax, full bikini and Brazilian wax?
Bikini line wax removes only the hair that would be visible outside a standard bikini — along the inner thighs and just above the swimsuit line. Full bikini wax goes further, removing hair from the sides and front but leaving a strip. Brazilian wax removes most or all of the hair from the front, sides and back — your therapist will confirm your preference before starting. Hollywood wax is complete removal with no strip left.
Will I be naked in front of the therapist? Is it embarrassing?
All Brazilian wax appointments are in a private, locked treatment room with a certified female therapist only. You'll be given a towel and disposable underwear if you prefer. Therapists at YLG do 20–40 Brazilian waxes a week — there is nothing they haven't seen, and they are trained for a clinical, respectful, business-like approach. Most first-timers say the anticipation was worse than the actual experience.
Can I get a Brazilian wax during my period?
Technically yes, with a tampon or menstrual cup in place. Practically, we recommend rescheduling because skin sensitivity is 30–50% higher during menstruation and the 2–3 days before. If you can, schedule your Brazilian for 5–10 days after your period ends — that's when skin is least sensitive and the wax will hurt least.
How long does a Brazilian wax last?
Most clients see clean skin for 3–4 weeks with Pink Bright Brazilian Wax. By the 4–5 week mark, regrowth comes in finer and more sparse than shaving because waxing removes hair from the root. With consistent waxing every 4 weeks for 6 months, many clients find regrowth becomes noticeably thinner and slower over time.
Can I get a Brazilian wax while pregnant?
Brazilian waxing is generally safe during pregnancy, but skin sensitivity is higher because of hormonal changes. We recommend waiting until the second trimester (after week 14) when most pregnancy discomfort has settled, and informing your therapist before the appointment so we can adjust pressure and technique. Consult your obstetrician if you have a high-risk pregnancy or any specific skin concerns.
Will Brazilian waxing cause ingrown hairs?
Ingrown hair risk drops significantly with proper aftercare. Three rules: (1) Exfoliate gently with a sugar scrub or exfoliating mitt 2× a week starting 72 hours after your wax. (2) Wear breathable cotton underwear — synthetics trap moisture and cause friction. (3) Use the post-wax serum we provide for 3 days. With these three habits, ingrown hairs are rare with Pink Bright Brazilian Wax.
How often should I get a Brazilian wax?
Every 4 weeks is the gold-standard interval. Going longer means hair gets too long and the next wax is more painful; going shorter means hair isn't long enough (6mm minimum) for the wax to grip. After 6 months of consistent 4-weekly Brazilians, many clients can stretch to every 5–6 weeks as regrowth slows.
Do you do Brazilian waxes for men?

Is the Brazilian wax hygienic? Can I catch an infection?
This is the right question to ask any salon. At YLG: every Brazilian appointment uses a brand-new single-use disposable wax cartridge (the applicator never touches a shared tub), the therapist wears surgical gloves and a face mask, the treatment room is sanitised between clients, and we use single-use disposable bed liners. Double-dipping is the #1 hygiene risk in salon waxing — it is impossible with our cartridge system.
Is Pink Bright wax suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes — Pink Bright was formulated specifically for sensitive intimate-area skin.
