- Hair length: 6mm (¼ inch). Too short and wax can't grip; too long and pulls are sharper.
- No shaving for 3 weeks before your first bikini wax.
- Light exfoliation 24–48 hours before — not the morning of.
- Avoid sunbathing or tanning the bikini area for 48 hours.
- No retinol, AHA/BHA, or chemical peels on the area for 5 days prior.
- Avoid caffeine and alcohol on the day — both raise skin sensitivity.
- Take paracetamol 30 minutes before if first-timer.
- Schedule mid-cycle — 5–10 days post-period is the least painful window.
- Wear loose cotton bottoms to your appointment.

Is bikini wax painful for first-timers?

What's the difference between bikini wax and Brazilian wax?
Bikini wax removes only the hair that would be visible outside a swimsuit — along the inner thighs and just above the line. Brazilian wax removes most or all hair from the front, sides and back. How long does a bikini wax last?
3–4 weeks of clean skin with Pink Bright. Regrowth becomes visible around week 3 but is much finer than shaving stubble. By week 4 you'll want to rebook. After 6 months of consistent monthly bikini waxes, many clients can stretch to every 5–6 weeks.
Can I get a bikini wax during my period?
Technically yes (with a tampon or menstrual cup) but skin sensitivity is 30–50% higher during your period and the 2–3 days before. Most clients prefer to schedule 5–10 days after their period ends — that's when the bikini wax hurts least.
Will bikini waxing cause ingrown hairs?
Risk drops significantly with proper aftercare: (1) Exfoliate with a sugar scrub or mitt 2× a week starting 72 hours after waxing. (2) Wear cotton underwear, no synthetics, no thongs for 48 hours. (3) Use the post-wax serum for 3 days. With these three habits, ingrown hairs are rare after Pink Bright bikini wax.
Is bikini wax hygienic? Could I get an infection?

I've only ever shaved — will my first wax hurt more?
The first wax after a long history of shaving can feel sharper because hair grown from shaved follicles is thicker. Most clients find the first wax 6–7/10 pain, dropping to 3–4 by the third visit. After your second or third bikini wax, the regrowth that emerges through the follicle is naturally finer and the experience becomes noticeably easier.
How often should I get a bikini wax?
Every 4 weeks is ideal. Going longer than 5 weeks means hair gets too long and the next wax hurts more. Going shorter than 3 weeks means hair isn't long enough (need 6mm minimum) for the wax to grip. A consistent monthly schedule also reduces ingrown hair risk because regrowth comes through clean follicles each time.
Can I get a bikini wax if I'm pregnant?
Yes — bikini wax is generally safe during pregnancy. Skin sensitivity is higher because of hormones, so the experience may feel sharper. Most therapists recommend waiting until the second trimester (after week 14) when most pregnancy discomfort has settled. Inform your therapist before the appointment so technique and pressure can be adjusted.
What if I have visible darkening on my bikini line?
