Is rebonding permanent?
Yes — rebonding permanently changes the hair's protein bond structure. Treated hair stays pin-straight forever. As your hair grows, only new growth at the roots comes in with natural texture. Most clients touch up roots every 6 months. Already-rebonded lengths NEVER need re-treatment.
What's the difference between rebonding, smoothening and straightening?
Rebonding is PERMANENT pin-straight (chemical bond change, no reversal). Straightening is TEMPORARY pin-straight (3–4 months). Smoothening reduces frizz but keeps some natural body (4–6 months). Rebonding is the most aggressive; smoothening is the gentlest. Choose rebonding only if you genuinely want pin-straight hair forever — there's no going back.
Will rebonding damage my hair?
Rebonding does involve significant chemical processing — it permanently breaks and reforms hair's disulfide bonds. Healthy hair tolerates it well, but pre-damaged hair (heavy colour, bleach, previous chemical treatments) may suffer further damage. We do a mandatory strand test 48 hours before the appointment. Post-rebonding, follow our 6-month aftercare protocol (sulphate-free shampoo, weekly mask, monthly hair spa) to keep hair healthy.
How long does the rebonding appointment take?
5–7 hours total. Wash + analysis: 30 min. Apply cream relaxer + process: 60–90 min. Neutralise + wash: 30 min. Blow-dry + section-by-section flat-iron sealing: 2–3 hours. Final wash + finish: 30 min. Block your full day. Best to book first appointment of the day so the stylist isn't rushed.
What can't I do after rebonding?
For 72 hours: NO washing, NO tying hair, NO ponytails, NO ear-tucking, NO water at all. Sleep with hair completely down on a silk pillow. After 72 hours: regular washing with sulphate-free shampoo only. Avoid chlorinated pools for 30 days. Wait 4 weeks before any hair colour. Wait 6 months before any other chemical service. We provide a printed aftercare card and sample products.
Can I do rebonding on coloured hair?
Yes, but order matters: rebonding FIRST, then colour at least 2 weeks later. Doing colour before rebonding may cause colour to lift unpredictably during the rebonding process. If you have heavy bleaching or highlighting, we may recommend smoothening instead — less risk for already-processed hair. Strand test always confirms.
